My Computer is Running Too Slow – How Can I Fix it For Free?
Because computers are only made by humans, it is expected that some problems can occur upon their usage. After all, humans are known to be prone to error and their products inherit this trait. Most people encounter problems with the way their computers work overtime. After a while, computers tend to run slow. In fact, my computer is running too slow and I have taken to research what I can do to solve this problem. If you are facing the same dilemma, then read on and find out what I have learned.
There are many ways with which you can speed up your computer. The first thing you need to do is to accept that there is a problem and that it can be solved. When I first noticed that my computer is running too slow, I waved it away and chalked it up to my computer’s age. Although the struggling speed bothered me, I continued to ignore it until a friend called my attention and told me there are things I could actually do to quicken my computer’s processing capabilities.
That was when I got unsolicited but very good advice. I learned that to speed up my computer, I had to uninstall or remove programs that are unnecessary or unused. If you don’t know how to do this, just visit your computer’s control panel and use the add/remove program you can find in that section. If you’re thinking, “My computer is running too slow,” this simple, free task should do the trick, coupled with cleaning out your computer’s trash bins. Believe me, many people (I used to be one of them) tend to take their trash bins for granted, not knowing that emptying them is one of the easiest ways to speed up a slow computer. Check out your trash bins and keep them from becoming full or even halfway full to maintain your computer’s good speed.
When I acknowledged the fact that my computer is running too slow, I looked for relevant articles on the web. One of the most common tips I came across with was to remove any form of malware, as well as spyware, on my computer. Malware is the most frequent reason why computers slow down; this dangerous software can wreak havoc on your computer and cause stubborn or, worse, permanent damage. Spyware, on the other hand, can put your identity and safety at risk and leak sensitive data from your computer to third parties. There are tried and tested solutions you can employ to remove malware and spyware from your computer, including downloading and installing free programs such as Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft. However, be wary of the free programs you find online. Some are only made up of advertising baloney and do not really work or are also made up of dangerous software.
Most people think that it takes a lot of money to repair and improve their computer’s speed. That’s what I thought too when I first realized that my computer is running too slow. Now, I know better, thanks to the free tips I just shared with you.

Apple Computers of Yesterday and Today
Apple computers are known for their robust performance and tight security. These computers are exclusively designed to run only on Apple’s own platform including several versions of Mac operating systems. Innovative, portable, secure, elegant, durable, and powerful are among the impressive characteristics of Apple computers that enticed millions of computer user world wide. From basic functionality such as document processing to hard end network servers, these machines are proven to outpace others. These machines are capable of connecting to other machines running on a different platform through simple configuration on the software side. Its optional Airport devices allow apple computers to connect to a network wirelessly, but securely. During the first release of the first Apple computer in 1976, users were doubtful about its features. As more and more designs and features were added on every release, people are getting more and more interested with these computers. The release of Lisa in 1983 gave the world a different view in computing. The prototype was designed with a GUI which created a user friendly environment. Further releases including the Macintosh and other advanced computers were among those that gave Apple the pride in the industry. As a company, Apple experienced some downfalls in terms of sales and management. However, with good people and loyal members around the company was able to recover and made it to the road again. And today, the company does not only focus in manufacturing computers. They have several lined up gadgets including the famous iPod and iPhones which hit the market with phenomenal sales. Modern Apple computers are now running with Apple’s latest operating system, the Mac OS X or simply referred to as Leopard. The operating system offers portability, security, connectivity, entertainment, and other features that enhanced the capacity of Apple computers. MacBook Pro and iMac, released in 2006, were among the first Apple computers to use the Core Duo CPU manufactured by Intel Corporation. This was after the partnership between Apple and Intel Corp. The later partnership resulted to some succeeding generation of Apple computers including Mac Pro and Macbook. Because of the popularity and security offered by Apple computers, many avid Windows users were encouraged to try these computers. Shifting from Windows to Mac environment was difficult due to the differences in commands and interface. To address the issue, Apple introduced Boot Camp – utility software shipped with Mac OS X v10. 5- to aid users wanting to use Apple computers while maintaining Windows XP’s interface. The software allows a user to install Windows XP or Windows Vista on an Intel-based Mac computer. At present Apple manufactured computers are among the most sought after computers all over the world. Surpassing well known computers manufactured by other companies such as Dell. Though a little bit expensive compared to other brands, these computers are known to last longer because of the refined engineering applied.
What Are the Causes of a Slow Computer? How Can I Fix It?
Personal computers are great add-ons to any home offices as these office equipments help speed up the work and many office tasks. But there will be times wherein these office equipments can be the source of delays in production. This will usually happen when the computer starts to slow down and it starts to become a liability instead of an asset. But why do computers slow down and what are the causes of slow computer?
Computer experts often list many causes of slow computer. The traditional causes of the slowing down of the computer include files that are disorganized on the computer, often unwanted and those un-important programs and software within the computer causes problems on the computer as well. If you think that unused network drives do no harm to your personal computer, well think again. These things make your computer suffer. And if there are a number of programs that run at start-up like a messenger system, then remember that these programs are party to the issues experienced by the slow computer.
Now that the causes of slow computer have been identified, then the next logical step is to address these issues. First up is to identify the programs that aren’t and are rarely used. Check as well the programs that start automatically and if these programs never used or used rarely then these programs should be deleted from the system. Often these programs are designed to run in the background so that once they are used, they will seem to start up quickly. Well these programs may not obviously slow down your personal computer but these programs can steal some memory from your personal computer.
Managing programs that run every time the pc is started cane be done by using the System Configuration Tool that is included on all Windows XP installations. The System Configuration Tool can be started by clicking on the Start button, clicking on Run and by typing “Msconfig” on the space provided and by pressing Enter. When you check the Startup tab, there you will see the many programs and the software that runs every time your slow pc runs and loads. Delete the ones that you rarely use or you don’t need and click on Apply. To implement the effect, you need to re-start the computer. If the temporary files are loaded then this could be one of the causes of slow computer as well. So make sure that you clean up the Internet temporary files.
Aside from these recommended steps, there are others ways out there in order to speed up a slow computer and undo the many causes of slow computer. Another way is to run a defrag on the computer’s hard drive. Just make sure that the drive is not compressed. Cleaning up the disk can be done by clicking on Start, then the All Programs/Accessories and by selecting the System Tools. When you’re there select the Disk Clean-up option. And just to make sure that there will be no more issues, make sure that you add more memory.
Advice on Outsourcing and Information Technology Benefits
Hiring an outside independent contractor to manage some aspect of a company’s computer and data systems is called IT “outsourcing. ” Boston companies do this in order to help externalize the cost of doing business while internalizing and maximizing profits for shareholders and investors. While outsourcing functions of government such as the maintenance of infrastructure, safety and regulation enforcement and even the military has proven to be an unmitigated disaster for the public, large private companies and their clients and cusomers can actually experience substantial benefits by outsourcing and information technology benefits.
Because of governmental misuse of outsourcing over the past seven years, the term has understandably taken on some strongly negative connotations with the general public, leading to some misconceptions about outsourcing and information technology benefits. The fact is that outsourcing information technology can be an excellent way to streamline your company’s operations and cut business costs. In many cases, when it comes to the technological infrastructure of a business, the most effective way to make efficient use of labor and capital as well as the technology itself is by IT outsourcing.
Boston – based companies often have issues with supervision and control that causes management to be hesitant when it comes to outsourcing information technology. In fact, such often time-consuming management chores can seriously eat into the bottom line; one of the great outsourcing and information technology benefits is that the company will no longer have to spend time and resources in this area any longer; the contractor takes care of all supervision, evaluations and other issues that management generally prefers to have under its control. This is true even when the contractor may have an IT engineer on your company’s property to deal with any potential problems with computers, e-mail systems, Internet connections, data storage, severs and any other issues that may come up.
Another aspect of outsourcing boston information technology to keep in mind is the fact that as contractors, these people do not require that you provide pension contributions, paid vacation and health and dental benefits – meaning greater returns for investors and more that can be paid to your valuable top-level people.
Outsourcing and information technology benefits the shareholders and investors, management and the company as a whole. When you have fewer employees to manage and keep track of, you can turn your attention to the more immediate issues that more directly affect the day-to-day operations of your company. Ease of operation, cutting costs, and increasing profitability are the best reasons for outsourcing boston’s corporate IT systems today.
How Can I Make My Computer Faster in a Day?
When was the last time your computer worked well for you? The truth of the matter is that your computer is a machine whose internal issues will change from day to day, and one of the best things that you should consider is good maintenance. Has your computer started slowing down? Don’t worry; this is inevitable for all computers unless you take steps to prevent it. Take some time to think about the question, “How can I make my computer faster in a day?” You may find that the answers are easier than you think. 1. Identify the issue
We often believe that our entire computer is running slowly, when the truth is that it is just one application that’s causing the slowdown. Identify the applications that utilize most of the computer’s memory and see if you need to use them or launch at start up. It is definitely one thing if your computer is slow on all accounts, but perhaps it is only slow when loading up a certain application, or when you are trying to access certain sites. Take some time to really think about what you are having a problem with and really pinpoint the issue. 2. Clean your registry
Usually when your computer is running slow, you will find that it is largely time to invest in a registry cleaner. Your registry is the place on your computer that holds all of the instructions that your computer requires to do certain tasks. Over time, you will find that it is quite easy for your registry to become cluttered. Entries will become corrupt, damaged or duplicated, and a slow computer is definitely a sign of a registry-related issue. There are registry cleaners out there on the internet that are free; some of the more reliable ones may cost you a little, but you will find that this is something that can go a long way towards making your computer a lot faster. 3. Check your start up menu
One thing that slows down many computers, without their owners being aware of it, is the fact that your computer is set to preload several programs as soon as your computer boots up. You will find that this can make things very difficult when you are looking to get ahead and to get your computer up to optimal usage. Take the time to make sure that the only programs starting on your computer are the ones that you really need, and want started from the get-go. 4. Computer optimization services
When you are asking yourself the question of “How can I make my computer faster in a day” you will probably wonder if there are any services to take care of your computer, and the answer is definitely yes. Whether you are concerned about one computer or a dozen, you will find that there are many companies that can help you get your computers running up to its optimal speed. Check the internet, and look for a service that has a good reputation and good testimonials.
The Truth About Water Purification Technology
Water purification technology has advanced tremendously in the past few years, particularly in the area of home filtration systems. Here’s a brief look at some of the different methods of water purification available today.
Distillation is very old water purification technology, but it is still commonly used. It was first developed, not as one of the methods of water purification, but to create alcohol. In archaeological excavations from Pakistan to South Asia, alcohol distillers have been found. A simple explanation of the process follows.
Liquid is brought to a boil and it vaporizes. The vapor travels through a tube, where it enters another chamber, cools down and once again becomes a liquid. Anything that has a higher boiling point than the liquid or cannot be vaporized in the steam remains in the first pot.
This is one of the methods of water purification that leaves the minerals behind and causes an acid pH. It has been learned that for drinking purposes, de-mineralization and acid pH levels are not healthy.
Advancements in water purification technology have aimed at removing chemical and biological contaminants, without destroying the natural mineral content and pH level.
Reverse osmosis is often touted as the latest in water purification technology, when in fact it has been around for at least 50 years. It was developed for use in industries and large scale treatment facilities. In the 1970s, it became popularized as one of the healthiest methods of water purification for the home.
It was truly a boon to water purification technology, since it can be used to remove salt. In coastal areas and island communities, this is an important and desirable feature. Basically, it works by pressurizing and forcing liquids through a porous membrane. The size of the pores determines what is removed and what travels through.
RO is another of the methods of water purification that de-mineralizes, so not the healthiest for drinking. There are several other disadvantages to the system. It creates wastewater that cannot be used for drinking or other purposes. It operates slowly and requires electrical energy.
Chemical contaminants, such as we face today are not removed. And, additional steps are required to remove bacteria and bacterial cysts. For home purifiers, water purification technology has advanced beyond this method.
In most of our homes, the liquid that flows from our kitchen taps has been through a number of methods of water purification. Treatment facilities vary, but depending on where you live, the methods of water purification used by major facilities include RO, membrane and ultra-filtration, flocculation, UV radiation and, of course, chemical disinfection.
The use of chemicals to kill bacteria and disinfect was, at the turn of the century, a major leap forward in water purification technology.
Before its introduction, there were numerous outbreaks of cholera, typhoid and other diseases relating to bacterial contamination. It appears that what was good for our society in general was bad for the health of the individual.
One of the chemicals most commonly used for disinfection is chlorine. When it is used at the treatment facility, other chemical by-products (THMs) are released. Both, THMs and chlorine, as well as their gases and vapors, have been linked to cancer and a variety of other health problems.
New advancements in water purification technology for the home are aimed at removing those threats. One of the best methods of water purification for this purpose is carbon filtration.
Chemicals and other contaminants stick to the filter, making the output safer to drink. This method also removes odor and improves taste. Most of the newest home purifiers make use of this technology.
This was a brief overview of water purification technology. It would be impossible in an article of this length to cover the subject in its entirety, but hopefully, you are now a little more informed.
How to Get the Right Computer Software
Computer software is a vast term used to describe a collection of computer programs, procedures and documentation that all perform tasks on a computer system. Computer software is the applications that we use on our computers such as office programmers and even windows it. Computer software is any programmer that we load onto and install on our computers. Computer software is usually brought in CD format and is then installed onto our computers from this. Any new programs etc that you buy for your computer can be classed as a form of software. Without software you wouldn’t get very far with the use of your computer. For more details go to . When software is placed or opened on your computer it is loaded into the RAM and executed through the central processing unit (CPU) it is then available for you to use. Software comes in three main types, the first being system software. This helps to run your computer hardware as well as your computer system. The second is programming software. This provides tools to assist programmers in writing computer programs, such as text editors, compliers, interpreters and linkers. The last form of software is application software. This allows end users to accomplish one or more specific tasks. Typical applications include industrial, business, educational, medical databases and computer games; businesses being the biggest users of application software. There are many avenues in which you go approach in order to buy computer software such as you can buy it new from retail stores; however many people find it difficult to find the exact software that they need from a retail store and often turn to buying software online. The Internet in itself is a bigger competitive market. You have more chance of finding what you need by using the Internet. This applies to the purchasing of computer software. There are many Internet sites that primarily focus on the selling of computer software giving you more of a chance of finding what you want as well as giving you more choice of brands and the power of a software. It can also be cheaper if you buy it online as there are a number of good deals around that will enable that you get the most for your money. One good site that appears on the Internet is called kelkoo. This site is a price comparison site specifically for computer parts and software. Again this demonstrates that by using the Internet you are more likely to get a good deal on the software that you purchase. Also the Internet can sometimes give you the option of online downloads meaning that you can purchase and download your product at any time and from anywhere in the world. For more information . One thing that you need to be aware of however if you are hoping to use the Internet to purchase your software is fraud. In order to ensure that you are buying a genuine copy you should find out about the site that you are buying your software from or stick to retailers that you are aware of. This makes sure that you don’t spend money on something that could potentially harm your computer and that is also illegal.
Water Purification Technology – a Look at 6 Methods of Water Purification
Let’s face it, there are a lot of elements involved in the latest water purification technology. The methods of water purification have changed over the years. The technology has gotten better and new techniques have evolved. Here, we look at water purification technology, both old and new.
Here are some of the methods of water purification that exist today.
1. Distillation was one of the first methods of water purification, but it still deserves mention. You bring the liquid to a boil, in order to turn it into vapor. It is sent to another container and then allowed to cool. All impurities with a boiling point above 100°C remain in the original container, but any impurities with a boiling point near or below 100°C pass through to the secondary container. So, some chemical contaminants are not removed with this water purification technology.
2. Activated carbon filtration is a water purification technology that removes chemical contaminants by taking out many compounds. When used as home filters sometimes a little silver is added, causing the release of silver ions for an anti bacterial effect. When silver is used, the water purification technology is referred to as GAC or granular activated carbon. Chemicals and other contaminants are trapped on the surface of the filter.
3. Sub micron filtration is one of the better methods of water purification. This can be achieved with either a synthetic membrane or a ceramic one which could be reused up to fifty times with regular cleaning. It offers 100% cyst removal and 99. 99% E Coli removal. Cysts are bacterial contaminants during the spore stage of development when they are particularly resistant to chlorine. Silver is used in this water purification technology, as well, because of its anti bacterial effect.
4. Reverse osmosis is a water purification process where a liquid is pressurized mechanically and run through a semi porous membrane to clean out debris. The disadvantages are that it is slow and wasteful. Also if the membranes are not cleaned often, they develop algae.
5. Electro-deionization is usually one of the methods of water purification, that must be followed by additional steps to provide something safe to drink. This water purification technology involves a system called “ion exchange”. It has no effect on “non-ionic” contaminates, which include microbes, bacteria and cysts.
6. Ultra-filtration is one of the newer methods of water purification. It uses a chemically formed artificial membrane customized to target specific types of micro organisms dependent upon their size.
In order to be complete, a water purification technology must include numerous steps. You may already see why. Some methods of water purification disinfect or kill bacteria, while other methods remove chemical contaminants.
Public treatment facilities usually use chlorine for disinfection. Then, at the point of use, aware citizens will use carbon filtration to remove the chlorine. Thus, today’s water purification technology actually includes the public utilities and the general public. Are you doing your share to help?
